The 2016 M&M International Symposium for Young Researchers will be held at Stony Brook NY, USA. The purpose of this international symposium is to exchange information, explore new research opportunities and promote friendship among young researchers from various fields of engineering and science. This will be the third such symposium hosted by Materials and Mechanics Division of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (MMD-JSME). The first symposium was held in Shirahama, Wakayama, Japan in 2008 and the second symposium was held at California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA, USA in 2010. This symposium focuses on all aspects of mechanics of materials. Every young researcher is encouraged to attend this symposium to exchange ideas and start international collaborative research.

Call for papers

Authors wishing to make presentation(s) should send a short abstract (maximum 300 words), not later than January 31, 2016, to the Symposium Secretariat by email (mmdconf16-2@jsme.or.jp). The abstract template can be downloaded here
Please prepare two-page extended abstract (both MS Word and PDF) and copyright transfer form (PDF), and send them to the symposium secretary by e-mail. Their files can be downloaded from here (extended abstract template, copyright transfer form).

Registration fee*

Participants from Japan:  12,000 JPY
Participants from US:      100 USD

*Registration fee includes one booklet of extended abstracts. Additional local cost for reception, banquet and coffee break (150 USD) will be charged on site.

Venue and Accommodation

The symposium will be held in the main campus at Stony Brook University. Hilton Garden Inn Stony Brook is recommended for your stay. The special rate for this symposium is available if you make a reservation by 7/11, but please book early. Reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis. Eligibility requirements

Young researches with a doctorate degree under 40 years of age as of 1st April 2016, or students enrolled in a doctoral course

Language

The official language for the symposium, including abstracts and presentations, is English.
