CONFERENCE OVERVIEW

Background and Purpose

The International Conference on Modeling and Diagnostics for Advanced Engine Systems (COMODIA) has a long history. The first COMODIA was held in 1985, and the following COMODIA were held in 1990, 1994, 1998, 2001, 2004, and 2008. Before the last COMODIA in 2008, the name of COMODIA stood for "The International Symposium on Diagnostics and Modeling of Combustion in Internal Combustion Engines". Therefore, discussion of combustion diagnostics and modeling of internal combustion engines, such as laser diagnostics, numerical simulation, and combustion technologies were presented at COMODIA before 2008, and great contributions to the development of internal combustion engines were made.

However, because of the recent increasing demand for engine performance, more integrated and broader strategies are required for engineers and researchers in the field of engine systems. Therefore the name of the conference was changed at COMODIA 2008. In COMODIA 2012, four sessions for special topics of "Application of chemical kinetics to combustion modeling", "EGR combustion", "Plasma-assisted combustion", and "Ultimate thermal efficiency" were organized.

Reviewing Process

A two-step qualification process is adopted for papers to be presented at COMODIA 2012. In the first step, all the abstracts submitted are evaluated. In the second step, full papers are evaluated by reviewers.

Abstract should be sent to the technical committee not later than October 28, 2011. (E-mail: comodia2012_techpower.mech.okayama-u.ac.jp) Abstract should be no longer than one A4 (210x297mm) page including figures and tables. Abstract should include title, first and family names of contact person, all author(s) name(s), affiliation(s), full address with postal code, telephone/fax number, email address and some key words. Acceptance notification will be made by December 16, 2011.

Authors of accepted contributions are required to submit full-paper drafts not later than February 10, 2012. Reviewers' comments will be sent to the authors for possible revision in the second step. Acceptance notification for presentation will be made by April 6, 2012. The final camera-ready paper to be included in the proceedings must be received by May 11, 2012.
