Title of talk:
Modes of Collective Cell Migration on 2D and 3D Substrata

Professor Lim is the NUSS chair Professor and Director of the Institute for Health Innovation and Technology at the National University of Singapore. His research interests include human disease mechanobiology and development of biomedical technologies for diagnosis and precision therapy. He has co-authored over 430 publications in journals including Nature, Science, Nature Materials, Nature Physics, Nature Communications, PNAS, etc and has over 60 filed/granted patents. He is an elected Fellow of US National Academy of Inventors, AIMBE, IAMBE, Academy of Engineering, Singapore and the Singapore National Academy of Science. Prof Lim and his team have garnered over 100 research awards and honours including Highly Cited Researcher 2019, IP Champion for the WIPO-IPOS IP Awards in 2019, ASEAN Outstanding Engineering Achievement Award and Asian Scientists 100 in 2016, Wall Street Journal Asian Innovation Award (Gold) in 2012, President’s Technology Award in 2011 and IES Prestigious Engineering Achievement Award in 2010 and 2016.

Personalised Biomechanical Modelling and Analysis of the Knee During Activities Using Medical Imaging and Artificial Intelligence

Dr. Tung-Wu Lu received his D.Phil. in Orthopaedic Engineering from the University of Oxford in 1997. He is currently a Professor and Head of Department of Biomedical Engineering at National Taiwan University. He served as President of both the Taiwanese Society of Biomechanics, and the 3D Analysis of Human Movement Technical Group of the International Society of Biomechanics. He is the co-President of the 9th World Congress of Biomechanics to be held in Taipei on July 10-14, 2022. His research interests include human motion analysis, orthopaedic engineering, medical imaging-based biomechanics, sports biomechanics, mathematical modeling of the musculoskeletal system, wearable sensor technology, and rehabilitation engineering. He has published more than 180 peer-reviewed journal papers, and served as Editor-in-Chief for Biomedical Engineering: Applications, Basis and Communications, and as Editorial Board Members for several international journals.

Computational Biomechanics: Simulation Approach from Theoretical Analysis to Clinical Support

Shigeo Wada was born in Kobe, Japan in 1963. He received Ph. D. from Osaka University in 1991. After working at Ryukoku University, Hokkaido University and Tohoku University, he is currently a Professor of Mechanical Science and Bioengineering and a Dean of Graduate School of Engineering Science at Osaka University. His specialty is computational biomechanics. He has developed new computational approaches such as 4D image-based simulation of heart flow, data assimilation of blood flow, multiscale simulation of RBC flow, large-scale simulation of the cerebral circulation, and rule-based simulation of vascular diseases. In recent years, he has been engaged in the research aimed at personalized medical support. He is a member of World Council of Biomechanics and a collaborative member of Science Council of Japan.
