For promoting the study of various fields of biomechanical engineering and the cooperative research works between these societies, the KSB-JSME joint issues were published in 2011 and 2012, while a TSB-JSME joint issue was also published in 2014 focusing on orthopedic biomechanics. To further encourage international academic cooperation through the exchange of knowledge among JSME, KSB and TSB, the first JSME-KSB-TSB joint issue was published in 2017 focusing on “Showcase of researches from JSME, KSB, and TSB”. Here we plan to publish the second JSME-KSB-TSB joint issue to enhance continuous knowledge exchange among JSME, KSB and TSB. This joint issue will cover a wide range of topics in biomechanical engineering and related scientific fields. Although it is a hard time for all of us due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we hope that scientific activity will be increased through this joint issue. Papers from members of JSME, KSB and TSB are welcome, but not limited to these societies. All submitted papers will be reviewed through the same process as the papers accepted in the regular issues.
