About Asian-Pacific Association for Biomechanics

imageThe Asian-Pacific region is now believed to be responsible for nearly half of the world’s economic activity. The significance of this area will grow in the 21st century. It is true that economic growth in this region has out-paced developments made in science and technology, despite the great efforts that have been made by researchers throughout the region. Indeed, these efforts seem to have resulted in fierce competition, rather than collaboration, particularly in fields closely related to industry. Nevertheless, we have a very long tradition of a common culture and civilization in East Asia, and a shared foundation in natural philosophy, as exemplified by the teachings of Confucianism. Based on this common background, we are in a position to establish a new form of science in this region. It would be wonderful if the Asian-Pacific Association for Biomechanics (APAB) were to grow and start to involve other countries and regions.
