Foreword

Journal of Advanced Mechanical Design, Systems and Manufacturing (JAMDSM), founded in 2005 by five divisions of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME) such as Machine Design and Tribology Division, Design and Systems Division, Manufacturing and Machine Tool Division, Manufacturing Systems Division and Information, Intelligence and Precision Equipments Division, is an international peer-reviewed online journal that provides academia and world-leading industry with high quality research papers and reviews in manufacturing.

• (1) Metrix
  The journal is indexed by Journal Impact Factor (JIF) and Scopus CiteScore.

• (2) Editorial Framework
  The editorial system is employed, whereas editors select peer reviewers, urge them to review papers promptly and make inquiries to authors. The editorial committee of JAMDSM consists of each English Journal editorial committee of the five divisions.
• (3) Issuing Method of the Journal
  The online Journal is issued through J-STAGE (http://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/browse/) run by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (free Access).
• (4) The submission of Papers (refer to “Submission Rules” regulated by the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers)
  Paper submitters will submit their papers through an online paper submission system (http://www.editorialmanager.com/journal-jsme/).
• (5) The process until Papers are Issued (refer to “Peer Review Process" and "Accepted Manuscripts”.
  The process from paper submission to issue should be promptly implemented through the introduction of online proofreading and issuing system, and the proofreading result will be noticed within three months after the paper is submitted. Each paper is uploaded to J-STAGE by an uploading system upon completion of proofreading in response to submitters’ requirements. Proof-reading takes around two weeks.
• (6) Vol. and No.
  The journal is issued four times a year and each issue is numbered based on the issuing years and issuing numbers. The papers are sequentially uploaded and sorted to numbers by appropriate periods (basically every three months). The Vols. and Nos. are expressed as Vol. X, No.1; Vol. X, No.2, Vol. X, No.3 and Vol. X, No.4.
  Deadlines for paper submission are the ends of Jan, April, July and October (only as a guide). The periods for paper acceptance are from August to October, from November to January, from February to April and from May to July (only as a guide). However, these starting months for paper reception are only a guide, and papers are actually accepted at any time. The Nos. of issue may be changed for editing reasons.
• (7) Special Issue
  For the special issue projected by each division, the papers to be edited are put together in a No. In this case, the Nos. for regular issues of papers are moved down one after another.
• (8) Contents which can be Posted (refer to “Manuscript Preparation”)
  Papers can be posted with full colors, animation, sound file and electronic appendix (linked separately to papers).
• (9) Paper Publication Fee (Refer to “Paper Publication Fee” regulated by the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers)
  According to the standard of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, Paper Publication Fee is shown in "Copyright, Open Access and Fees".
• (10) Collection of Paper Contributions
  The journal is collecting the contributions of research papers, review papers and technical notes on the study fields relating to the field of below Table1 shown in the above site.
• (11) JSME members’ merit
  Article publishing charge of JSME member’s submission is discounted.
