Power and energy system division holds International Conference on Power Engineering (ICOPE) collaborating with American Society of Mechanical Engineers and Chinese Society of Power Engineering by yearly. The 16th ICOPE (ICOPE-2023) had been held in Kyoto in May, 2023 hosted by JSME, co-located with ICONE30. ICOPE covers wide field related on power engineering except for nuclear power. Those are large scale thermal power system, natural energy including hydro, solar, wind, geothermal, and so on, and distributed energy system including combined heat and power, fuel cell. And, energy supply and utilization system including fuel supply, energy demand levelling using energy storage, heat pump system, waste heat recovery. The focus of ICONE is on the technical state-of-the-art and the status of nuclear power around the world. This special issue invites the papers with the contents presented in the ICOPE-2023 or ICONE30 after polishing based on the discussion in the conference.

Vol.11 No.4 (August 15,2024)
Submission starting date: August 10, 2023
Submission Deadline: November 30, 2023
Note: Please select a Section/Category "Recent Progress in Research on Mechanics of Materials and Computational Mechanics by Young Researchers 2023 (MEJ:SMM,CM)" on Editorial Manager.

1. Focus

In current fast-changing environment surrounding mechanical engineering, active research and fresh ideas brought by young researchers are highly expected. Thus, the 2023 M&M/CMD Symposium for Young Researchers is held on 7-9 August 2023 in Kanazawa, Ishikawa, Japan, by the Materials & Mechanics and Computational Mechanics Divisions, and the special issue “Recent Progress in Research on Mechanics of Materials and Computational Mechanics by Young Researchers” will be published in the Mechanical Engineering Journal. In this special issue, we invite the papers on a wide range of research topics based on the presentations given in the above-mentioned symposium; not only those related to mechanics of materials, such as solid mechanics, fatigue, fracture, mechanical properties evaluation, and experimental/numerical approaches for conventional and advanced materials, but also computational mechanics, including thermal analysis, fluid analysis, optimization methods and multiscale analysis.

2. Important Dates

Submission Deadline: November 30, 2023
Publication: August 15, 2024 (Volume 11, Issue 4)

Purport of Special Issue
This is the call for papers for “Special Issue on Advanced Technology in Experimental Mechanics” of Mechanical Engineering Journal published by JSME.
Recently, experimental mechanics is the field to create new technologies to measure stress, strain and fracture of solid materials, consequently. It is expected to play a central role for the security of social infrastructures. Under this circumstances, ATEM-iDICs '23, The Advanced Technology in Experimental Mechanics and International DIC Society Joint Conference 2023, was held at Awara, Fukui, Japan, during Oct. 9-12, 2023. In this time, it was held as a joint conference with International DIC Society (iDICs).
The Special Issue on Advanced Technology in Experimental Mechanics is published as the one of Mechanical Engineering Journal. Every participant of ATEM-iDICs '23 is invited to submit the paper based on their extended abstract of ATEM-iDICs '23. The papers are published through the standard review process. The publication fee will be discounted.

24/7 Clean Nuclear Energy – Solution for Global Warming

Vol.12 No.3 (June 15,2025)
Submission starting date: September 30, 2024
Submission Deadline: November 30, 2024
Note: Please select a Section/Category "ICONE31(MEJ:TEP)" on Editorial Manager.

Power and energy system division holds International Conference on Nuclear Engineering (ICONE) collaborating with American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and Chinese Nuclear Society (CNS) by yearly. The 31st ICONE (ICONE31) will be held in Prague, Czech in August, 2024 hosted by ASME. The theme of ICONE31 is "24/7 Clean Nuclear Energy - Solution for Global Warming." Active discussions are expected on various fields related on nuclear engineering such as plant operation and maintenance, nuclear fuels and materials, next-generation reactors, fuel cycles, reactor safety, thermal hydraulics, computational fluid dynamics, and response to events beyond design basis, etc. It is important to disseminate research presentations and discussions on the importance and safety of nuclear energy utilization in the future to the whole world through the JSME journal at this conference. Therefore, we are planning a special issue to invite research papers on the theme of this special issue based on the papers to be presented at ICONE31.
