Most research papers are written, published, reviewed, and cited in English. This could create a barrier for people who do not speak English as a first language but want to work in academia and publishing. With the advent of artificial intelligence (AI) tools like ChatGPT, however, publishing circles have begun debating the role that AI could play in removing this language-associated barrier. That being said, there are certain drawbacks to the use of AI in these fields.
