The Nineteenth International Symposium on Magnetic Bearings, ISMB19, will be held at the Biwako Hotel in Otsu from August 19 to 22, 2025. The main objectives of ISMB19 are to promote scientific and technological exchange between Asia and other parts of the world, and to enhance the understanding and the dissemination of magnetic bearing technology worldwide. ISMB is the premier meeting place for academic and industrial researchers from around the world. Call for Papers
1- or 2-page digests will be accepted via the website. Digests must be converted to PDF files and submitted by March 28, 2025.

Special Issue of JSME Journal
The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME) plans to publish a special issue on “Advanced Magnetic Bearing Technology” in the Mechanical Engineering Journal in June 2026. Papers selected from those presented at the symposium will be recommended for publication in this special issue.

Conference Schedule

Aug. 19, Tuesday: Excursion to Hieizan Enryakuji or other places in the afternoon, a welcome reception in the evening.
Aug. 20, Wednesday: Technical sessions and keynote speeches.
Aug. 21, Thursday: Technical sessions and keynote speech in the mooning, technical tour in the afternoon, and a banquet in the evening.
Aug. 22, Friday: Technical sessions and keynote speeches. Closing ceremony will be in the afternoon or evening.

Exhibition
The symposium will be accompanied by an exhibition. Magnetic bearing
manufacturers and research laboratories are encouraged to exhibit their
magnetic bearing systems, products and components to the assembled
international community. Registration and information regarding space and
utility requirements should be submitted by April 1, 2025.

Venue
The ISMB19 will be held at the Biwako Hotel in Otsu (city), Shiga (prefecture),
Japan. The hotel is located on the southern shore of Lake Biwa and offers a
spectacular view of the lake. It is a 10-minute train ride from Kyoto and a
40-minute train ride from Osaka.
Otsu City is the ancient capital of Japan and home to many famous sites,
including the World Heritage Site Hieizan Enryakuji.
